Well this one was kinda disappointing. Demigod was one of the first stand-alone DotA-like games. It was released 2009, and had several problems, which are the reason it didn't really took off.
The graphics are okay and nice to watch, the setting is also alright (demigods [see what they did there?] are fighting, because one of the REAL gods died, and it is up to them to take his place), but damn, they did so much wrong :/
First of all, there are just like 8 heroes to choose from. 8. in words: eight.
WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!
the maps are okay, but boring. what they did is this: they made the first half of a map and then copypasted it. well, no need to worry about the gameplay-balance then, i guess. another problem of the maps: there were just paths you could walk along to fight. ONLY the paths. no way to ambush the enemies, no way to surprise them in ANY WAY. Hell, alle the maps were FLAT. not even mountains. :/
the skills and purchasable items ingame were okay and nicely done. but who cares, if there are just eight heroes to fight with :/
all in all it really could have been a good game, but i think at some point during the development the developers where like "ah whatever, lets stop here, 8 should be enough for everyone. and if not, well, we can still tell em that we patch more heroes and maps into the game later!"
RATING: 5/10
I didn't like the gameplay of Demigod at all....subpar at best.
